Description

Appointed Imperial Art Craftsman during the Meiji era. Preserved the Gassan forging tradition with its distinctive ayasugi-hada (cedar-grain pattern). After the sword-abolishment edict, he persevered in maintaining traditional techniques, demonstrating the artistic value of Japanese swords to the world.
