Awataguchi Yoshimitsu

Description

Supreme master of tantō from the Awataguchi school, counted among the 'Three Greatest Smiths' alongside Masamune and Yoshihiro. His nashiji-hada (pear-skin texture) and refined suguha are unmatched. His Ichigo Hitofuri was treasured by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Famous tantō include Namazuo Tōshirō and Honebami Tōshirō. Regarded as the greatest tantō maker in all of Japanese sword history.
