Rai Kunitoshi

Description

Leading smith of the Rai school who brought the Yamashiro tradition to its zenith. Known for deep nie-based suguha and ko-midare, with fine ko-itame hada. Excelled in both tachi and tantō with dignified workmanship. Many dated works survive, making him invaluable for Kamakura-era chronological studies.
