山口県立萩美術館・浦上記念館

The Hagi Uragami Museum is a prefectural art museum in Hagi, the former castle town of the Chōshū domain (Mōri clan) in Yamaguchi Prefecture — the birthplace of the Meiji Restoration. Named after collector Uragami Yoshiaki, whose major donation of ukiyo-e prints and East Asian ceramics formed the founding collection, the museum encompasses Japanese swords, armor, and craft objects alongside one of Japan's finest ukiyo-e collections. The sword and armor holdings relate particularly to Chōshū domain warriors, including items associated with the Bakumatsu-era reformers who transformed Japan. The museum offers a unique combination of Edo-period popular culture (ukiyo-e) and samurai material culture in the historic setting of a castle town now designated part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
