堀川国広

Horikawa Kunihiro

Description

Called the 'Father of Shintō swords.' Born in Hyūga province (present-day Miyazaki), he traveled extensively before settling in Kyoto's Horikawa district. Blended Sōshū heritage with his own bold style and trained many disciples. Yamanbagiri Kunihiro is particularly famous.
