Description
The greatest swordsmith in Japanese history and the perfector of the Sōshū tradition. His brilliant nie-based hamon features complex activities including kinsuji, sunagashi, and inazuma, with bold松皮 (matsukawa) hada. Foremost of the 'Three Greatest Smiths,' he revolutionized Japanese swordmaking through his disciples known as the Ten Pupils of Masamune. Signed works are extremely rare. Famous blades include Kanze Masamune and Hyūga Masamune.
